The Project

Savoy Place is a common venue for BBC live broadcasts and for the Prime Minister’s press events, and was awarded ‘Best UK Venue Brand’ three years running for event hires.

A £30 million refurbishment commenced in 2013 upon receipt of an approval letter from Her Majesty, The Queen.

Keeping the target audience in mind, AV/IT systems had to be developed for use by members of IET as well as for marketing a venue of status to the event-hire market. The brief included building-wide IPTV, video and audio conferencing, video streaming, and outdoor broadcast points.

Many Facilities and spaces were implemented into the building during the refurbishment including, conference rooms, meeting rooms, member areas, digital signage, a theatre, boardrooms and a lecture theatre.

How Jade helped

Jade Solutions designed, installed and provided all the necessary CORNING Connectivity and Infrastructure Cabling to ensure a world class warranted infrastructure solution within building.

The structured cabling solution consisted of a CORNING Category 6a shielded copper solution and OM3 fibre optic inter cabinet and specialised AV links.

Jade delivered the IT solution infrastructure to a total of 29 separate lecture/meeting places – one lecture theatre which had Europe’s largest 7.5m Infinity screen, the IET Savoy Place venue is a listed building and being a refurbishment project and not a new-build, from a technology integration point-of-view, made this project inherently challenging. Jade worked closely with IET and Building Contractor’s project management teams to ensure we delivered on time and budget.
